Steampot Land restaurant
With the clever melding of scheme with restaurant theme, guests at this restaurant consume oriental warmth in a satisfying mix of food fare and atmosphere.
Converted from an original hotel lobby and retail area, the new Steampot Land Restaurant lives at the base of the Victoria Suites Hotel in Victoria Street, Hamilton.
Subtle signage for the restaurant in the form of sand blasted window decoration gives a dreamy alluring feel to the glazed entry. Once inside the restaurant is arranged into a main dining area flanked by three smaller dining rooms, each separated from the hub by linear latticework screens.
To complement the menu, the colour scheme is based on the theme of oriental warmth of colour and contrast. Rich colours Resene Juniper (nordic blue green), Resene Fusion (rustic red orange) and Resene Equator (sand yellow) are used in the three separate dining rooms for sparkling intimacy. The main dining room is split at dado level into Resene Tea (muddy neutral) ceiling side and a perimeter border of muted oriental-red wall vinyl floor side to create an expanded sense of spaciousness. Coherence of the separated spaces is achieved by visually linking the middle dining room, painted in Resene Fusion, with the red wall vinyl in the main restaurant space.
With careful attention to detail, dining room doors and screens are painted in soft Resene Malta (muddied grey purple) contrasting sharply with the Resene Kilamanjaro (rich brown) framings and skirtings. Restrooms are easily identified in the corridor, each painted a striking Resene Thunderbird (deep red orange) against a frame of Resene Tuatara (deep grey) and walls in cooling Resene Sorrento (blue green).
With the clever melding of scheme with restaurant theme, guests at this restaurant consume oriental warmth in a satisfying mix of food fare and atmosphere.
